"Salem Staircase"
"Salem Staircase", 29" x 21" Gouache on Paper, 1982
Part of the charm of Old Salem was due to the subtle colors of the buildings and the wonderful attention to details in the trim. It was all done with love and care, with an eye for beautifying the ordinary!
This painting received the Second Place Award in the Associated Artists Exhibiting Members Show in 1982 and was sold to Wachovia. I was totally surprised when I walked into the Wachovia Bank in Concord, NC, and there it was! I think that was the first time I saw a purchased work on public display - a real thrill!
