"Salem Afternoon"
"Salem Afternoon", 30" x 22" Gouache on Paper
Old Salem is a restored Moravian village in Winston-Salem, NC - lots of history there. It used to be like stepping back in time, very peaceful and quiet - I hope it remains that way and hasn't gone commercial! This was on the main street through the village - not far away was Winkler's Bakery, where the wonderful aroma of baking bread and other delights would draw you in like a magnet! And it was all baked in an ancient brick oven...
The painting was in the Associated Artists of Winston-Salem Northwestern Bank Show in 1981 and received a Purchase Award from Trotman Frame Shop and Gallery.
