Self Portrait 2: Through a Glass, Darkly
"Through a Glass, Darkly" Gouache on Paper 1979
14.5" x 10"
I am the figure in the mirror, holding my drawing pad while I did my shadowy portrait. The title is borrowed from Scripture (a reference referring to seeing earthly reality "through a glass darkly"). I have always been an introvert so very few people know the "real" me.
"Through a Glass, Darkly" was included in the 1981 Biennial of Painting and Sculpture at the Mint Museum Of Art in Charlotte, NC. Fun fact: Robert deNiro was the juror! The father of the actor was also well-known!
The painting also won a Second Place Award in the 1979 High Point Fine Art Guild Show in High Point, NC.
I own the original ($600 + S&H) - may be available as a print soon.
